In some places in our app, we use smart money addresses that we calculate in real-time. These addresses are used for the smart money filters and the most traded tokens by the smart money dashboard. Let's learn how we calculate them.
We analyze blockchain data to determine which wallets belong to skilled traders who consistently make profitable trades. Our process involves aggregating decentralized exchange (DEX) swaps, applying filters, and tracking smart money in real time. Here’s an overview of how we do it:
Step 1: Aggregating Wallet Data:
We collect all swap transactions on decentralized exchanges and compile real-time statistics per wallet. This dataset provides a historical view of trading activity, profits, and overall wallet behavior.
Step 2: Applying Smart Money Filters
Not every active trader qualifies as smart money. We apply a rigorous filtering process based on criteria that help us distinguish skilled traders from casual participants. The main factors include:
Profitability: Wallets must have achieved a minimum absolute and relative profit over a defined period.
Trading Volume: Only wallets that have traded significantly over the past few months are considered.
Number and Diversity of Trades: A smart money wallet must have completed a minimum number of trades across various tokens.
Hold Time Analysis: Short-term speculative trades are excluded; we prioritize traders demonstrating strategic holding periods.
Activity Threshold: Wallets must have been active for several days to ensure we track relevant traders.
Token Health: A large portion of the tokens the wallet trades should remain healthy to filter out traders engaging in low-quality or scam tokens.
Step 3: Calculating Smart Money Statistics on New Tokens in Real-Time
For each token in our database, we track how many smart money wallets interact with it and calculate key statistics, including:
The number of smart money buyers and sellers
Changes in trading volume by these wallets
This enables users to apply smart money filters on the main dashboard, helping them quickly identify tokens gaining or losing traction among skilled traders.
To refine our model further, we actively filter out wallets that exhibit irregular DEX trading patterns. This includes:
Removing Inactive or Manipulated Wallets: We identify and remove patterns suggesting wash trading, artificial volume inflation, or manipulation from our dataset.
Filtering Out Airdrop Exploiters: Some wallets receive tokens for free and immediately sell them, which does not reflect genuine trading skill.
This dashboard highlights the most actively traded tokens by "smart money" wallets. It aggregates data across all supported networks, allowing users to see trends in token purchases and sales easily.
Toggle between Most Bought and Most Sold tokens to see where smart money accumulates or exits positions.
Filter activity by time intervals: 1h, 4h, 12h, 1d, 7d, 30d.
View buyer/seller counts and buy/sell volumes for each token.
Tips for using the dashboard:
A surge in "Most Bought" tokens over lower intervals may signal short-term opportunities, especially when the buy volume is high compared to sell volume. The green bar should be as big as possible and the buy volume high (over 20k in 12 hours).
Tokens appearing in "Most Sold" over 30d could indicate profit-taking or bearish sentiment.
This dashboard tracks high-value token accumulations (over 25,000$ ) to help users identify market-moving trends. Users can filter trades to focus on buying or selling activity, revealing whether whales are accumulating or exiting positions.
Trades are sortable by timestamp to prioritize recent activity or by volume to spotlight the largest transactions.
The "buying" list only includes wallets that have never sold the token—addresses that sell are automatically excluded, ensuring the data reflects pure accumulation. This helps users spot tokens with strong, sustained whale interest.
