Holders filters and metrics

This section explains our advanced filters for filtering holders and their distribution.

The token distribution shows how cryptocurrency is shared (allocated) among different user groups: founders, investors, and the community. Thanks to blockchain transparency, you can easily check the real token distribution.

Aping into a meme coin is fun, but the holder distribution is important to the long-term success of a token. New launches are the riskiest places to spend money in the meme coin space. The developers and team (if they even have a real team) will likely hold much of the supply. If a token makes it past the initial launch, one of the most crucial points to its long-term success is the drawdown from an ATH, where the tokens can be redistributed from the larger holders across multiple new buyers who all hold a much smaller percentage of the tokens.

Many factors should be considered when deciding to invest in a project. One of the most important in ensuring the safety of your money is the distribution of holders. Having the tokens spread out healthily helps a token survive as people leave or buy into the project and ensures the long-term growth of the token.

This is why we offer different filters and metrics for holders and their distribution.

All holder data is refreshed on a daily base.

Total token holders

The Total Token Holders metric represents the number of unique wallets holding a specific cryptocurrency token at any time. It provides a high-level view of how widely a token is distributed among crypto ecosystem participants.

The number of total token holders is a critical indicator of the adoption and popularity of a project. A higher number of token holders often suggests a broader level of interest and participation, which can contribute to:

  • Market Stability: A wider distribution of tokens among numerous holders reduces the risk of price manipulation by a few large investors.

  • Community Engagement: Tokens held by more individuals foster a stronger and more active community.

Including "Total Token Holders" in your filtering criteria enables users to identify tokens with desirable distribution patterns and avoid potential risks.

Available Filters:

  • Total Holders: Displays the current number of token holders. Usually, higher is better.

  • Change In Holders (1 day, 7 days, 30 days): Tracks changes in the number of token holders over specific timeframes. We want to see positive values. This means the project is growing.

You can check the change in token holders over time in the plot in the token detail view by clicking on the token:

Potential Risks:

  • Be aware that the Total Token Holders metric can be artificially inflated by:

    • Fake Airdrops: Tokens sent to popular wallets to create the illusion of higher holder counts.

It’s important to understand that Total Token Holders alone cannot give you the full picture. While many holders might seem positive, the distribution of tokens among these holders is equally critical. For example, take a token with 1,000 smallholders (a total sum of 10% of the supply) and a single wallet holding 90% of the supply. A token would have 1001 holders, which is not bad, but the distribution is very bad. This indicates centralization and significant risk. Always analyze the distribution alongside total holders to accurately assess a token’s health and potential.

Token holders distribution

Currently, distribution filters are only supported for Solana. Support for other chains will be added soon.

Token distribution refers to how a cryptocurrency’s total supply is allocated across its holders. It measures the ownership concentration among wallets, offering insights into whether the token is widely held by many participants or controlled by a few significant players.

Where detection is possible, supply held by centralized exchanges or decentralized exchange (DEX) liquidity pools is excluded from the distribution analysis. This adjustment ensures a more accurate representation of the true distribution among individual holders, as exchange wallets often consolidate large amounts of tokens for trading and liquidity purposes.

Supported Filters for Token Distribution Analysis:

  • Top 1 holder sum (%): Measures the total percentage of the token supply held by the largest holder. It helps identify extreme centralization. If one wallet holds a disproportionately large percentage of the supply, it could pose risks such as price manipulation or liquidity instability.

  • Top 10 holders sum (%): Represents the total percentage of the token supply held by the top 10 holders combined.

  • Top 20 holders sum (%): Calculates the total percentage of the token supply held by the top 20 holders.

  • Top 50 holders sum (%): Represents the percentage of tokens held by the top 50 holders.

  • Top 100 holders sum (%): Summarizes the total percentage of tokens held by the top 100 holders.

  • Top 200 holders sum (%): Measures the total percentage of tokens held by the top 200 holders.

  • Median holder rank: Identifies the wallet rank at which half the total token supply is held. For example, if the median rank is 50, the first 50 holders collectively own 50% of the total supply. Indicates whether the token supply is top-heavy (dominated by a few wallets) or more evenly distributed. The higher the value, the better.

  • Holders HHI Market Concentration: The Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) calculates the concentration of ownership by squaring the percentage of supply held by each holder and summing the results. It can range from close to zero to 10,000. A market with an HHI of less than 1,500 is considered a competitive marketplace; an HHI of 1,500 to 2,500 is moderately concentrated, and an HHI of 2,500 or greater is highly concentrated. The primary disadvantage of the HHI stems from the fact that it is such a simple measure that it fails to consider the complexities of various markets. The lower the value, the better.

  • Has Whale Wallet Distribution: Summarize all the above metrics in a simple True/False filter:

    • True (BAD): If whale wallets hold a substantial percentage of the supply, signaling high concentration.

    • False (GOOD): If ownership is more evenly distributed among holders, suggesting lower whale dominance.

Before buying any token, always check the holder distribution in the pair detail view.

It's possible to check how much of the tokens are held by the developer (creator or deployer of the token -> The Deployer Holds filed). If you see some % here, it is a bad sign. Of course, the deployer could move the tokens to another wallet, but we couldn't detect this currently.

So, when building your strategy with our filters, don't forget to add the token holders and token distribution filters to your query (besides the others!). For example:

  • Token holder > 500

  • Top 100 holders sum (%) < 60%

  • Median Holder Rank > 50

Our advanced smart money filters make it effortless to track tokens being actively bought or sold by top-performing wallets in real time. The real power lies in flexibility—you can seamlessly combine smart money insights with other filters to produce high-quality opportunities faster. Whether you’re tracking buyer/seller counts, volume shifts, or net flows, our system gives you granular control and live data on what skilled traders are doing. The process of how we define smart money wallets is .

Example of a filter configuration ( - fix the values as needed):

Wallet Splitting: Dividing large holdings into multiple wallets to simulate decentralization, but the same entity controls all the tokens. We currently can't connect multiple wallets (we plan to implement this in the future). In the meantime, you can use tools like .
